  • Lamberts Cod Liver Oil 1000mg

The most beneficial ingredients in Lamberts® Cod Liver Oil are the two fatty acids, EPA and DHA. These are omega 3 fatty acids, which contribute to:

    • The maintenance of a healthy heart
    • Helping maintain joint mobility
    • Maintaining healthy skin

Whilst we can make EPA and DHA in our body from the conversion of the Alpha-Linolenic Acid, (the parent fatty acid of the omega-3 family), nutritionists believe that this process may not always be very efficient. Increasingly few people consume oily fish regularly and so a supplement that provides pre-formed EPA and DHA may be useful.

In terms of the EPA and DHA content this product is one of the strongest cod liver oils available, and offers the added benefit of providing relevant levels of vitamins A, D and E. This is therefore a useful supplement for anyone who may be at risk of Vitamin D deficiency resulting from little exposure to sunlight.

For situations requiring supplementation with high levels of omega 3s we recommend product 8508, ~Pure Fish Oil 1100mg//P8508~.

  • Lamberts Ascorbic Acid

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, was the subject of the first controlled nutritional experiment in recorded history. It is needed for a healthy immune system, healthy bones, teeth and gums as well as helping to maintain normal blood fat and cholesterol levels. In addition to being an antioxidant in its own right, vitamin C facilitates the body in recycling other antioxidants such as vitamin E.

Vitamin C, being one of the fragile water soluble nutrients, is highly unstable and easily destroyed by heat and light, and it is not always possible to be sure how much is taken in the diet. Our daily requirement for it is higher than for any other water soluble vitamin.

Powders are ideal for those who find tablets difficult to swallow or those who require large amounts of this vitamin. This fast dissolving fine powder is an economical way to supplement vitamin C. It has a refreshing sharp taste similar to fruit acids such as lemons and limes, and it is ideally suited for fortifying fruit juices and squashes.

Small intakes several times daily (freshly made up) are more beneficial than a large single daily dose.

  • Lamberts Biotin 500µg

This vitamin was first isolated from egg yolk in 1935 and is found in a variety of combined forms in both animal and plant tissues. In the animal it is stored in the liver. Biotin is readily produced by intestinal bacteria although antibiotics and other medications have been shown to affect the bacterial production of this vitamin.

The co-enzyme properties of biotin are involved in the processes by which carbohydrate and protein is metabolized for energy release and to take part in the production of prostaglandins from essential fatty acids.

In the body it is primarily used to assist with normal growth and development of the skin, hair, nerves and bone marrow.

This is a high strength supplement that provides a level of biotin that would be difficult to obtain from most 'high street' multis. Each capsule provides a full 500µg of biotin.

  • Lamberts Calcium Ascorbate

Vitamin C was the subject of the first controlled nutritional experiment in recorded history.

Calcium ascorbate is a non-acidic form of vitamin C. The soluble fine crystals provide a useful amount of calcium. This product is suitable for those with intestinal problems. Approximate pH: 6.8 to 7.4.

The soluble fine crystals can be easily added to drinks or sprinkled on to foods, and each gram provides almost 900mg of vitamin C plus just over 100mg of calcium.

  • Lamberts Calcium Pantothenate 500mg

The name pantothenic acid comes from the Greek word "pantothen" meaning "from everywhere" and is often referred to as vitamin B5. And whilst the body can't make it (which is part of the definition of being a vitamin); it can be produced from bacteria living in the digestive system, as long as ones system is running smoothly.

Pantothenic acid is a constituent of coenzyme A, which is essential for energy release from food. It is also involved in the production of antibodies and hence is important for an efficient immune system. Pantothenic Acid is essential for the production of cortisone by the adrenal glands. This corticosteroid hormone is needed to help the body cope with stress. Consequently, practitioners frequently recommend 500mg of Calcium Pantothenate daily for those with demanding lifestyles.

This is a high strength pantothenic acid supplement with each tablet providing 500mg. Due to its strength we have made the tablets time release so that they gradually release the pantothenic acid over a period of 6 to 8 hours after swallowing. This more closely matches the way a nutrient is released from food during digestion.

  • Lamberts Chewable Calcium 400mg

It is well established that many people's diets provide insufficient supplies of calcium. With 71% of female teenagers aged between 16 to 18 years old failing to consume adequate calcium from the diet and with a quarter of UK 4 year-olds following this trend, calcium supplementation is pertinent for many. Calcium intakes of girls and women are of particular concern because achieving optimum bone density before the age of 30 will help to maintain strong bones in old age.

Calcium supplements provide a convenient way to increase the intake of calcium, and have been shown to help slow the inevitable loss of bone mass that occurs as we get older. However, calcium tablets tend to be quite large so we have developed these pleasant lemon flavoured chewable calcium tablets to encourage ease of use.

Whilst most manufacturers use sugar in their chewable formulas, we have used a special type of sweet tasting soluble fibre called fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS). This natural material is extracted from chicory root and has the benefit of not causing tooth decay. Furthermore FOS may enhance the absorption of calcium.

Each tablet provides a full 400mg of calcium, 2.5µg of vitamin D and 1000mg of FOS.

  • Lamberts Choline Liver Complex

Choline contributes to the maintenance of normal liver function and our product provides a full 100mg per tablet.

We have also included milk thistle as a standardised extract from mature seeds, with a guaranteed level of 80mg silymarin. Silymarin is the active principle from the fruit of Milk Thistle (Silybum marianum). Milk thistle is one of the most extensively studied herbs in use today, and is widely recommended by practitioners.

To complete our formula, we have added the B vitamins which have many roles, including contributing to the release of energy from foods. Our convenient one-a-day formula is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and is made in the UK to GMP standards.

  • Lamberts Ester-C® 650mg

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid is needed for a healthy immune system, healthy bones, teeth and gums as well as helping to maintain normal blood fat and cholesterol levels. In addition to being an antioxidant in its own right, vitamin C facilitates the body in recycling other antioxidants.

Vitamin C, being one of the fragile water soluble nutrients, is highly unstable and easily destroyed by heat and light, and it is not always possible to be sure how much is taken in the diet. Our daily requirement for it is higher than for any other water soluble vitamin.

However due to its acidity, vitamin C may cause slight gastric upset in those with very sensitive stomachs. As patient compliance is always an important consideration of ours, we include Ester-C® in our range of vitamin C products as it is non-acidic (a neutral pH like distilled water) and hence gentle on the stomach.

Evidence suggests that Ester-C® is also more bioavailable than ordinary vitamin C, producing higher vitamin C levels inside cells and furthermore, it appears to stay in the body for longer as less is excreted in the urine.

    Each 650mg Ester-C® tablet provides 500mg of vitamin C.

  • Lamberts Folic Acid 400µg

Folic acid plays an essential role in cell multiplication and is critical in DNA and RNA formation, and is therefore especially important in foetal development. It is now widely accepted and established that lack of folate during the first trimester of pregnancy increases the risk of neural tube defects in the developing baby. Folic acid in also known to play an important part in the body's regulation of homocysteine, the amino acid like compound that is implicated in the damage that occurs to the lining of blood vessel walls that can then lead to the build up of plaques.

Folic acid is a water soluble vitamin which the body cannot store for long. Good food sources include green vegetables and whole grains. However cooking and storage can deplete the levels in food and currently 47% of women fail to consume the NRV of 200µg/day, which is why supplementation is recommended. Bioavailability studies indicate that folic acid supplements are well absorbed and are a reliable way to guard against dietary deficiencies.

This product provides 400µg of folic acid which is up to 3 times the level supplied by many people's diets, and the level that is increasingly recommended.

  • Lamberts Gentle Vitamin C 500mg

This product provides vitamin C in the form of calcium ascorbate, a non-acidic compound that is believed to be gentler on the stomach.

Up to 2g of vitamin C can be taken using this product (4 tablets), and if this amount is being consumed we recommend that the tablets are taken spread out through the day.

Each tablet also provides over 70mg of calcium, which can make a valuable contribution to an individual's calcium intake, particularly if they are taking several tablets per day.

  • Lamberts Methyl B Complex

Lamberts® Methyl B Complex is a superior and comprehensive B Complex supplement. Rather than folic acid, it provides a type of folate called methylfolate (or 5-MTHF), since folate is the natural form found in food such as leafy green vegetables and is already active and ready for the body to use. We have specifically chosen to use Quatrefolic®, the most advance form of folate supplementation available with optimum stability and bio-availability to ensure optimal methylation.

Vitamin B6 is present as Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate (P5P), the active form of vitamin B6 plus methylcobalamin, a superior absorbed form of vitamin B12, is included. Our Methyl B Complex also incorporates all the other B vitamins plus inositol and choline. It is yeast free and suitable for vegetarians.

Several of the B vitamins are known to contribute to the normal functioning of the immune system and to normal psychological function. Others are recognised as contributing to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue as well as the maintenance of normal skin.

  • Lamberts Multi-Guard® (90 Tablets)

If you are looking for a high potency multi formula then we highly recommend Multi-Guard® as the best for both potency and spread of nutrients. It is probably the most comprehensive one-a-day multi-vitamin and mineral formula available to practitioners, and is suitable for all adults.

All the vitamins in this product are present at relevant potencies, making it a useful product where a medium to high potency B complex is needed along with excellent levels of the antioxidants vitamins C and E, and double the vitamin D content of most multis.

It is the trace minerals in MultiGuard®however, that have made this product so popular with practitioners. Few, if any, multi-vitamin and mineral products have such a broad spectrum of trace minerals present at relevant levels even though research shows these vital nutrients are as important, and essential, as vitamins. Of particular note is the level of selenium and chromium that have been included, that greatly exceeds the levels found in most one-a-day formulas.

MultiGuard® now also contains our unique blend of plant antioxidants from green tea, rosemary and oregano extracts which provides 625 ORAC super-antioxidant units per tablet.

  • Lamberts Myo-Inositol Powder

Myo-inositol, closely associated with the vitamin B-complex, is just one of nine different types of inositol. It is produced in the body and is also the form most commonly found in nature, such as in foods like fruits, beans and nuts.

Myo-inositol plays an important role as the structural basis for a number of secondary messengers and in recent years has been studied extensively in relation to its role in insulin signalling. Supplementation has become popular and it is now widely recommended by practitioners, particularly for those with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS).

Lamberts® powdered Myo-inositol is 100% natural and affords an easy and convenient way to supplement the diet with daily doses of 4g, which is the level used in the majority of studies. Many inositol capsules contain just 500mg.

Our highly soluble, pleasant tasting powdered form is suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and is easily mixed into a glass of water or juice.

  • Lamberts Natural Beta Carotene 15mg

In terms of human nutrition beta carotene is one of the most important phyto pigments and is distributed throughout the plant world. It belongs to the carotenoid family and when ingested it serves as a precursor to vitamin A. For this reason it is often referred to as 'provitamin A'. This conversion from beta carotene to vitamin A takes place in the liver, kidneys and intestinal mucosa at a rate which varies from person to person according to physiological needs.

Beta carotene is now recognised as an important substance itself, being one of the main antioxidant nutrients in our diet. Antioxidants are substances that help our bodies to destroy or quench harmful free radicals that are produced quite naturally in the human body and which, if allowed to proceed unchecked, can harm tissues and organs.

Lamberts® Natural Beta Carotene is extracted in the natural form from the algae, Dunaliella Salina, and so the beta carotene is very similar to that found in vegetables. This means that in addition to the beta carotene there are a number of other natural carotenoids included.

  • Lamberts Natural Form Vitamin E 250iu

Lamberts® Vitamin E capsules present vitamin E in its natural form of d-alpha-tocopherol, which is how it occurs in foodstuffs such as nuts and vegetable oils. It is in the form of d-alpha-tocopherol that vitamin E is easily absorbed. The vitamin E used in these Lamberts® products is naturally sourced from vegetable oil.

Natural vitamin E (referred to as 'd-alpha tocopherol') has been shown scientifically to possess twice the potency of its synthetic counterpart (dl-alpha tocopherol) and has been hailed by many researchers as one of the most important dietary antioxidants known to man.

Vitamin E protects every cell in the body from free radicals through its antioxidant properties and this protective role has put vitamin E at the centre of worldwide research. Studies indicate that it may help maintain the health of the heart by protecting polyunsaturated fats in the body from being oxidised into saturated fats and so protect all membranes including those in the lungs and blood vessels. Vitamin E is also recommended during the menopause and to maintain a healthy skin and reproductive system.

Each capsule provides 250iu of vitamin E. Produced in premises that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP.

  • Lamberts Nicotinamide 250mg

Vitamin B3, a water soluble nutrient, appears in several different forms, all of which can be referred to as niacin. One of the forms is nicotinamide, (synonymous with niacinamide) which is the form of niacin that is generally recommended for supplements. The chemical structure of niacin is similar to the amino acid tryptophan and in fact the body can make some niacin from tryptophan. Niacin is most abundant in high protein foods such as meat, fish and nuts.

Niacin functions in over fifty metabolic reactions. It plays a key role in glycolysis, the Krebs Cycle and the hexose monophosphate shunt, all of which are important in the release of energy from macro-nutrients. It is also needed in the deamination of amino acids, essential fatty acid metabolism and in the metabolism of fatty acids. By playing a role in the formation of red blood cells, steroids, and in energy production within the cells, niacin is vital in maintaining the integrity of all body cells.

Each tablet provides a full 250mg of pure grade vitamin B3. It is produced in premises within the UK that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP.

  • Lamberts Osteoguard® (90 Tablets)

It is well established that many people's diets are deficient in the two essential bone-making nutrients, calcium and magnesium, and that low calcium intakes can contribute to the rate at which bone mass declines with age. The DoH recommends that women should have an intake of up to 1200mg of calcium per day, a level that is hard to achieve through diet alone, especially if the diet contains little dairy produce. Magnesium, which is increasingly absent from the food we eat, is known to help in the deposition of calcium in bones.

Osteoguard® is an all-in-one bone health formula containing high levels of calcium and magnesium, along with boron and the vitamins D and K. Whilst one tablet a day provides good support for most diets, two tablets daily is particularly preferable for those with diets containing little dairy produce or those of menopausal age. Osteoguard® is an excellent partner for most multis.

  • Lamberts P5P 20mg

Vitamin B6 is probably involved in more processes in the body than any other B vitamin, but despite this up to 25% of women have diets that provide less than the Nutrient Reference Value (NRV) for this vitamin (and the NRV is just 1.2mg which is likely to be a long way short of an optimum intake).

Vitamin B6 can be found in three different forms: pyridoxine, pyridoxamine, and pyridoxal, all of which are normally present in foods. Vitamin B6 must first be converted into the active compound of Pyridoxal 5-Phosphate (P5P) in the liver. It plays an important role in various functions in the body such as metabolism at the cellular level, muscle growth and repair, mood regulation, sleep regulation, and is very popular with women as a premenstrual supplement. It is also established that deficiencies of this B vitamin can raise homocysteine levels in the blood, a factor that has been implicated in the development of cardiovascular disease.

By consuming vitamin B6 in the active P5P form, conversion is no longer necessary, meaning it is all ready to be used by the body. This product provides a full 20mg of P5P per tablet.

  • Lamberts Riboflavin 50mg

Riboflavin, also known as vitamin B2, was identified in the 1930's. It is a water soluble vitamin that must be obtained from the diet. Rich sources of riboflavin include milk, cheese, beef and wholegrain cereals. However, 22% of women and 12% of men have intakes below the Reference Nutrient Intakes (RNIs). If a deficiency of riboflavin develops it may cause cracking and sores in the corner of the mouth, and watering, burning and itchy eyes.

Riboflavin is involved in the conversion of protein, fats and carbohydrates into fuel. It also helps in the repair and maintenance of soft tissue and is involved in the manufacture of red blood cells. The production of thyroid hormone also relies on the presence of riboflavin, as does the production of important immune system cells.

Riboflavin is closely involved in the body's processes that produce some of the antioxidant compounds that protect cells from the damaging effects of free radicals, and for this reason riboflavin is believed to be important in the maintenance of healthy eyes.

Our pure grade riboflavin is made in the UK and produced in premises that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP. Each capsule provides a full 50mg of riboflavin.

  • Lamberts Rutin & Vitamin C 500mg

Vitamin C, or ascorbic acid is needed for a healthy immune system, healthy bones, teeth and gums as well as helping to maintain normal blood fat and cholesterol levels. In addition to being an antioxidant in its own right, vitamin C facilitates the body in recycling other antioxidants.

Vitamin C, being one of the fragile water soluble nutrients, is highly unstable and easily destroyed by heat and light, and it is not always possible to be sure how much is taken in the diet. Our daily requirement for it is higher than for any other water soluble vitamin.

This product combines powerful bioflavonoids, including rutin and hesperidin with a full 500mg of Vitamin C. These bioflavonoids are naturally sourced with rutin being extracted from buckwheat and hesperidin from citrus fruit skins. Bioflavonoids have been the focus of research as they appear to be used by the body in a number of ways; in particular they support vitamin C in the role it plays in the maintenance of healthy collagen and cartilage. These tissues are the main structural components of blood capillary walls which is why rutin in particular is sometimes recommended for people who bruise easily.

    £12.95
  • Lamberts Thiamin 100mg

Thiamin is also known as Vitamin B1 as it was the first vitamin to be discovered. The body can not make thiamin and so it must be obtained from the diet, from food sources such as whole grains, pulses nuts and seeds. Because it is water soluble and not stored in the body, a deficiency can arise if someone's diet is poor, either due to low appetite or by over reliance on highly processed foods. Mild deficiencies may arise in the elderly for these reasons, although thiamin is added to white flour to reduce the risk of deficiencies arising. Thiamin levels in the body may be depleted by long term treatment with diuretics and it is often given to patients being treated for alcoholism.

One of the best known roles that thiamine plays in the body is in the enzymatic release of energy from carbohydrates. In addition thiamine plays an important role in maintaining the integrity of the nervous system, as it is vital for the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine.

Each capsule provides a full 100mg of thiamin. Made in the UK and produced in premises that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP.

  • Lamberts Time Release Vitamin C 1000mg (180 Tablets)

Vitamin C is needed for a healthy immune system, healthy bones, teeth and gums as well as helping to maintain normal blood fat and cholesterol levels. Our daily requirement for vitamin C is higher than any other water-soluble vitamin. Ideally, vitamin C needs to be taken in small amounts throughout the day and night because it is rapidly lost from the body. However, this is not always convenient which is why Lamberts® have formulated Time Release Vitamin C tablets.

These tablets are produced by a special process that retains the nutrient in micropellets allowing it to be released slowly after the tablet has been swallowed. This means that the absorption of vitamin C is a continuous process as the gradual release takes place over 6 to 8 hours.

Lamberts® Time Release Vitamin C 1000mg tablets also contain a relevant level of bioflavonoids because they are known to aid vitamin C absorption. Bioflavonoids have also been demonstrated to have specific effects including a strengthening effect on the capillaries.

    • A gradual release of vitamin C which replicates the natural process of food digestion
    • A more stable level of vitamin C in the blood for a longer period
    • A lower rate of excretion of vitamin C
    • The beneficial effects of vitamin C available over a sustained period.

  • Lamberts Vegan Vitamin D3 1000iu (25µg)

There are now more and more people becoming vegan (over half a million people in the UK) for a variety of motivations, whether it be environmental, health or animal welfare reasons. These vegan vitamin D3 capsules are ideal, whatever the motivation.

We use a special oily extract of lichen which is naturally rich in Vitamin D3 (plant-based cholecalciferol), the most bioavailable form of vitamin D. Lichens are small unique plant species which possess unique attributes enabling them to survive in extreme climates with the ability to grow and accumulate meaningful levels of useful nutrients, including cholecalciferol. There are many different species of Lichen, however we use a carefully selected strain, following extensive research and development into the best natural sources of Vitamin D3.

Lichens grow incredibly slowly so we have secured a suitable source which does not use pesticides and ensures sustainability as well as quality and purity.

Each capsule provides a full 1000iu of vegan vitamin D3.

  • Lamberts Vitamin B-100 Complex (200 Tablets)

Almost every process in the body requires B vitamins. They are needed for the release of energy from food, for a healthy nervous system and they help keep our digestive system working smoothly. They are also needed for healthy skin, hair and nails.

The functions of the B vitamins are synergistic so a deficient intake of one or more of them may cause deficiencies in the others by hindering their utilisation. Consequently, most practitioners prefer to give a B Complex (either on its own or in combination with some of the single B vitamins) when supplementation is long-term.

Lamberts® Vitamin B-100 Complex is a high strength product that is useful in situations where someone requires a fast improvement in their intake of B vitamins due to a very high requirement or because their diet has been very deficient. In most situations this product should be used for short term supplementation, typically two months, after which time our B-50 complex will provide adequate levels of the B vitamins.

Vitamin B12 is a complex substance containing the mineral colbalt at its centre. Principally, it participates in the rapid regeneration of bone marrow and red blood cells. This vitamin was first isolated from liver in 1948 and is needed for the synthesis of DNA and for normal metabolism of nerve tissue. However, in cases of achlorhydria (absence of hydrochloric acid in the stomach) the vitamin may not be extracted from food.

Folic acid, iron and vitamin B12 are all referred to as haematinic factors and are vital for the formation of healthy blood cells. Vitamin B12 is also necessary for myelin sheath production and for a healthy cardiovascular system.

Vitamin B12 is found mainly in animal based foodstuffs such as meat. Consequently, practitioners frequently recommend this particular B vitamin to vegetarians and vegans. It is also often recommended as a supplement for the elderly, who may have a compromised diet.

These small, easy to swallow tablets provide a full 1000µg of vitamin B12. They are made in the UK and produced in premises that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP.

Use of 1000µg of vitamin B12 requires specialist knowledge.

  • Lamberts Vitamin B6 50mg

Vitamin B6 refers to a family of three closely related, water soluble compounds: pyridoxine, pyridoxal and pyridoxamine. The conversion of vitamin B6 into the active compound of pyridoxal-5-phosphate occurs naturally in the body, and whilst supplements providing P-5-P are believed to be slightly better absorbed than pyridoxine, the difference is not seen as sufficient reason to use this more expensive form of the nutrient.

Vitamin B6 is popular with women as a pre-menstrual supplement as there is some evidence that it may assist in essential fatty acid metabolism and fluid balance. It is now well established that deficiencies of vitamin B6 can raise homocysteine levels in the blood, a factor that has been implicated in the development of cardiovascular diseases.

Each tablet provides a full 50mg of vitamin B6. Made in the UK and produced in premises that operate to stringent pharmaceutical standards of GMP.

  • Lamberts Vitamin C 1000mg (180 Tablets)

Vitamin C was the subject of the first controlled nutritional experiment in recorded history.

Lamberts® Vitamin C 1000mg tablets are one of our most popular forms of vitamin C, and provide adequate levels for those who have dietary insufficiency of this nutrient. These tablets also contain a relevant level of bioflavonoids because they are known to aid vitamin C absorption, as well as a full 100mg of rose hips. Bioflavonoids have also been demonstrated to have specific effects including a strengthening effect on the capillaries. Individual bioflavonoids include rutin, quercetin, citrin and hesperidin.

  • Lamberts Vitamin D 400iu (10µg)

Our bodies obtain vitamin D (which, strictly speaking is a steroid hormone) from two sources, our diet and from the action of sunlight on our skin which drives the natural production within the body. If we all had plenty of sun then we would have plenty of vitamin D, but in reality we do need to obtain some from our diet, particularly during the winter months and particularly in the elderly as the body's ability to manufacture vitamin D declines with age. Indeed as many as 60 percent of the UK population is vitamin D deficient and low levels have been linked to serious health problems in later life.

This is not surprising when one considers the fact that it is involved in the expression of more than 1000 genes. So whilst it is renowned for its vital role in the maintenance of normal bone health, in reality it actually acts on cells in every organ of the body and has extremely far-reaching effects on human health.

Each tablet of Lamberts® Vitamin D provides 400iu (in the vitamin D3 form), which is twice the RDA and the level often recommended. This form of vitamin D is suitable for vegetarians.

  • Lamberts Vitamin D3 4000iu (100µg)

Lamberts® Vitamin D 4000iu provides 100µg of this important nutrient in the preferred D3 form and at a strength that is increasingly being recommended to correct deficiencies. These easy to swallow capsules are made in the UK to pharmaceutical GMP standards.

In the UK, the only significant food source of vitamin D is oily fish. Most of our vitamin D comes from the sun. But there is a problem: many people in the UK never get what they need from sunlight alone because sunlight's ability to help us produce vitamin D is hampered by season (it only works in the summer), latitude (the UK is pretty far north), time of day (needs to be between 11am and 3pm), cloud cover (complete cloud cover reduces vitamin D synthesis by 50%), smog/pollution (most of us live in cities), skin melanin content (the darker skinned you are, the less vitamin D you'll get from the sun) and sunscreen (SPF of 8 and above). Even in summer, when vitamin D is most available, it is estimated that 45% of the English population have vitamin D levels of less than 40nmol/L (deficient) and that 75% fail to reach the 'optimal' level of 75nmol/L. The natural Vitamin D3 in this product is the same form produced by the body when the skin is exposed to sunlight.

This liquid form of vitamin D3 is an easy and convenient way to take vitamin D and an excellent choice for the whole family.

Each drop provides 5µg (200iu) of vitamin D3, with 600 drops per 20ml bottle, so one bottle goes a long way! The vitamin D3 is suspended in a base of virgin olive oil, which is both tasteless and odourless, making it palatable to even the fussiest of people. We've also added a mixture of natural vitamin E tocopherols to the oil, an important antioxidant that prevents the oil from going rancid. Plus this has the advantage that it is preservative free.

  • Lamberts Vitamin K2 90µg

The last decade has seen an increasing interest in the uses of vitamin K. Evidence from studies points to the importance of a regular intake of vitamin K in order to achieve optimal calcium regulation. Research has confirmed its use in activating K dependant (VDK) proteins which are needed for blood coagulation and other important processes like bone metabolism, vascular health and the regulation of cell growth and apoptosis.

Many experts now believe that a sub-clinical vitamin K deficiency, that is, one that is not great enough to hinder blood clotting capacity, could be wide-spread and could contribute to osteoporosis, and other age-related diseases.Lamberts® Vitamin K is a high quality supplement that provides a full 90µg of Vitamin K2 in the form of Menaquinone (MK-7) and is free of cis-isomers. Small easy to swallow capsules that are suitable for vegetarians and vegans.

  • Lamberts Vitamins D3 and K2

New studies are looking at the synergistic effects of vitamin K (specifically, vitamin K2) and vitamin D in the area of both cardiovascular health and bone strength. There are many studies that add weight to the argument that we should all watch our intake of both of these vitamins. As many as 60 percent of the UK population is vitamin D deficient and low levels have been linked to serious health problems in later life. Similarly, many experts now believe that a subclinical vitamin K deficiency, that is, one that is not great enough to hinder blood clotting capacity, could be wide-spread and could contribute to osteoporosis, and other age-related diseases.
